About me and Postoasties

Hi, my name is Lourina. I am the designer of Postoasties, a graphic design, branding and visual project development brand created to make the world a more beautiful place.

Postoasties or pos+oas+ies, the name, is an amalgamation of various concepts:
– post, as in publish or deliver or standing for the post in post-production
– toast, as in enhance, burn on, crisp up or celebrate by clinking a glass
– ties, as in the win-win (++) positive and lasting relationships I form with clients

Postoasties is also the generic and quite specifically South African name for cornflakes. No longer as popular a word as in the 1980s, it is still a term recognised without hesitation in Southern Africa and further afield, where it titillates the global mind with a warm and milky nostalgia.

Postoasties Productions has existed in one form or another since May of 2005.

Lourina is a South African National who grew up in Gauteng and graduated from the University of Pretoria with a BA Honours degree in Information Design. During her professional formation, she worked at various marketing, advertising and multi-media agencies to eventually lead big multi-faceted teams as creative director of some of the most prominent companies in South Africa at the time, on projects for brands like BMW, Nokia, Coca-Cola, Xerox, AIG, Vodacom, Engel & Volkers and others.
Just before the .com crash of the early 2000s she left the 9-5 world to make her way as an independent contractor and freelancer, only engaging in full-time in-office contracts from time to time.
Lourina’s very active, very conceptual mind has led her to become involved in a great variety of projects that require a big arsenal of skills: From print and corporate design to theatre production, from 2D animated film-making to online shop development and anything from illustration to digital video platform design & project management. She has taught college-level students at Damelin in Johannesburg and she has shepherded numerous small businesses from conception to well-branded success.

Since 2019 she has been travelling the world on a full-time basis with her partner, cherishing life on the road and recording the adventure both photographically and in a travelogue, in addition to working on design and visual art projects remotely.
